We are an all volunteer operation so we need lots of helpers to do what we do.
When you come to our warehouse you’ll see lots of activity: phones ringing, fax machines spitting paper, helpers with shopping carts filled with gifts to wrap, volunteers interviewing the public, and the boxing and storing of families’ completed sets of gifts.
Once you’ve visited, it’s hard not to get into the Christmas spirit. A lot of our helpers bring friends with them to make it all the more fun. We have a variety of opportunities you can select from depending upon your interests. If you have a specific skill that isn’t covered below, talk to us about it and we’ll do our best to find a place for you.
Spanish language translating [First two weeks in November during applications] You will help people through the application process. You do not need computer skills for this.
Interviewing and screening applicants(First two weeks in November, including Wednesday evenings) to verify their qualifications and enter the children's needs into the computer.
U-Shop Some of our smaller families are offered the opportunity to come back and “shop” for their children’s gifts in our warehouse.
General office work
(November and December) Computer skills are very helpful. You will be processing community adoptions; keeping and updating records as well as answering phones and general office work.
Gift wrapping (mid-November to mid-December) Our volunteers are wrapping, tagging and boxing pre-selected gifts for the children in each family during this time.
(mid-October through mid-January) We need help packing, unpacking, moving inventory, setting up tables and receiving boxes of gifts from the community, distribution, etc. (stamina and strength are needed for this).
We have flexible hours though most of our tasks are done during the general business day. Volunteers usually come in between 9-12:30 or 12:30-4. We also need volunteers for screening and applications on Wednesday evenings, November 6 and 13 from 4:30 – 7.
